Frankie boy

Frankie dog - Nilda Heyek

To my new human: I was found in the streets of Texas on January 2022, back then I was a real mess, with long hair all in knots, so they called me Matte. It was beyond repair, thankfully it will grow back.

I really don’t know how long it had been since I had a bath or a grooming.

My foster peoples called me Frankie and I like it, but you can name me differently if you prefer.

I will be happy either way

I am very playful, full of energy, and spunk. — If you chase me to get a toy from my mouth, you will see how good I am at avoiding getting caught. I run around in circles and I am very fast.

I also enjoy lounging in the sunshine chewing on a wood stick. Yum!

I love napping on your lap while you rub my belly or my neck. It is pure bliss! — I also love going out for walks, I will sniff and mark everywhere and I may bark at the peoples too, but really I am just saying hi. I am not so good at walking on a leash yet, however, I am willing to learn.

I love riding in the car

You may want to secure me well and I prefer not to be by myself in the back. I will jump all over as I am a wiggly little guy, and I can make it challenging to drive if it’s just us in the car.

My foster peoples secured a harness with a leash and this worked quite well. I was free to move, yet I was able to stay in one place. — I love looking out the car window, and I also ride with my paws on the dashboard. I’m an adventurous little guy, if I wasn’t secured, I would probably dare to jump out of the car.

I am also quite ambitious to say the least, don’t let my size fool you. — I am grand.

Once, I dragged a 5ft teddy bear from the young one’s bedroom to the kitchen, all by myself. — It was a proud moment for me.

I love meeting everyone, adults, and kids. Playing and running with the young ones is one of my favorites. — We had a blast in the snow just a week ago. And I really enjoy chewing on the melting ice.

I am an excellent companion

I will sit on the floor while you cook, and I will climb on your lap anytime you let me. — I can jump on your bed no matter how high it is, and I will stay there if you allow it.

One time, I found my way to the top of the dining table, and just for a moment, the humans thought I was part feline.

I love chewing and playing tug of war. I will tear up my toys and even my dog’s bed if you don’t mind. I will happily chew on a bully stick or a bone instead. Eventually, I will annihilate those as well.

I am very smart

My foster peoples hung a bell on the door, I would ring it when I needed to go outside, and also when I wanted them to go out and play with me.

I am very unique — If you pay close attention you will notice I have a pink paw, almost as if one had fallen off, and my nails are a mix of black and white.

I will sometimes fall asleep standing up, just because I want to be next to where you are, no matter how tired I am.

I love being part of a family, and I will come with you everywhere you take me.

They say I am 3 years old, I really don’t remember much of my life before the past month. — The time with my foster peoples was fun and they loved having me too.

I am so happy to meet you

I understand now why I was taken back to the shelter and transported here to be with you, even though it was a bit scary and disconcerting at first.

I am very happy to call you my forever human.

I am a bringer of joy and my heart is wide open, to loving you. — I know we will be very happy together.

Sincerely, Frankie boy, dog.

Note: Frankie was taken back to the Animal shelter on February 9 2022, to be transported the next day to the animal rescue who already has a home waiting for him out of state. He took a piece of my heart with him.
