The past few weeks have been busy, and out of the ordinary, and I have been wanting to write in my blog for a while, yet unable to do so until today.
It has been one week since returning from our trip to Utah, and we have been especially tired, baby’s schedule has been off… well, everyone’s schedule. — Even yesterday, I still felt like I could sleep for a whole day. Not an option these days.
Nature’s Magic
If you know me personally, you know I am passionate about nature, sustainability, and being environmentally conscious — wellness, whole foods, and healthy everything, for the body, mind, and spirit.
And this was definitely a serendipitous trip, as the most unexpected thing happened. We spent several days – along with a few thousand other people – learning about the magic of essential oils and chemical-free living.
I have been interested in essential oils for decades. — I have a chakra balancing kit (essential oils, crystals, and a pendulum) that I bought last century (okay, in the early ’90s) — I returned home with an array of essential oils from my two trips to Egypt in 2009 and in 2011.
Wait, there’s an oil for that!
My use of essential oils has been limited – until recently – Now, we use them on a daily basis, and for just about everything.
- essential oil-based ointment for our baby
- aromatherapy to help him sleep, purify the air in our home, as well as to create a soothing atmosphere
- for cleaning our home (countertops, floors, bathrooms, laundry)
- as hand soap, toothpaste, and mouthwash
- my guy uses essential oils as deodorant — True story!
- I use them to soothe a headache, and for when I become “uncomfortably hot”
- on the go, as hand sanitizer
- for aches, pains, and scratches
- for Chiquita my best furry friend
- for cooking
Imagine that!
Even after Yoga class, I wipe my mat clean with an essential oil-based solution that gives me peace of mind and smells delicious, knowing that it’s 100% chemical-free and nature-based.
I am also currently using essential oils to lose the excess baby weight I have been carrying. — I will happily report on my progress in about two months. Stay tuned!
Other things like adding a drop of peppermint oil to my cacao shake, to make a tasty, healthy, and refreshing drink.
Not all oils are alike
Essential oils have been used by ancient healers in therapeutic practices, and as botanical medicine for thousands of years. They work at the cellular level and are absorbed by the tissue in the body to help oxygenate and balance the cells in the body.
The crops that produce them and the process by which essential oils are extracted are paramount to the purity of the oils. — Knowledge is power. — Do your research and learn where your oils come from and how they are extracted. Especially when using them for your kids, your home, your body and to cook with them.
I am super excited and amazed at the wonderful gifts mother nature continues to yield. — I am in awe to have come across all of this in such an unexpected way. — Coincidence? I think NOT!
As of now, I am truly happy and blessed to be home.
