As I sit in front of my computer, indulging in a delicious cup of joe, wondering what to write about, I begin thinking about inspiration — What drives us from the inside.
Inspiration is defined as “the process of being mentally stimulated to do or feel something, especially to do something creative.”
I believe inspiration goes deeper than simply being mentally stimulated – I believe it comes from our gut feeling – that part of ourselves that delves deep within our core, whispering softly, waiting to be heard.
Some may describe it as a light bulb that turns on over the head, giving us an idea, perhaps a solution to a current situation, or guiding us into a course of action.
Divine inspiration
I don’t consider myself a religious person, I don’t partake in church or in any organized dogma. — However, I deeply respect others’ beliefs and I most definitely believe in a power greater than ourselves. — The power that created each one of us, created mother nature and all its wonders and created this diverse and mysterious universe.
I believe this wondrous and amazing power lives within each and every one of us — I call it the Divine within — I believe inspiration, draws from this power.
I also believe that we are individually inspired by that which resonates within, and what might be inspiring to some, may not be inspiring to others – that is a-Okay – as it contributes to the beauty of endless diversity and individuality.

In my journey of Yoga, I have learned about Sanskrit – I am truly fascinated by it, as it is considered one of the oldest languages in the world. — If you know me personally, you’ll know I also have a background in languages.
Sanskrit is also deemed as the language of the Gods, as it is made of basic sounds, each corresponding to a particular aspect of creation. When spoken, it creates a resonance throughout the body, opening channels of energy. — Isn’t this concept simply amazing?
Namaste, derived from Sanskrit is a combination of two words, “Namah” means ‘bow’, ‘reverential salutation’ and “te” means ‘to you’ — The literal meaning “bow to you” is translated as “I bow to you.“
The divine in me honors and salutes the divine in you
We can receive inspiration from within, to learn, to do, to create, to teach, to write, and we can also be inspired by others. When we meet a person, we receive energetic feedback, a sense, a feeling, something that tells us about them. I believe this can help us connect to others, and if there is no energetic match, then most likely there will be no connection.
When inspired by someone, we can perhaps learn from them, develop a friendship, or even fall in love. These experiences can drive us to grow, to better ourselves, to go beyond our comfort zone, and to explore new horizons.
Being still
When we feel a lack of inspiration, maybe all we need is to take a moment to sit quietly and to look within, taking a few deep breaths – as consciously breathing allows us to become present and aware – and then just listen.
Perhaps being inspired then is simply a matter of listening, allowing an active connection to our true self, individually speaking, staying in our truth – being aware of that subtle whisper – that guides our every step, to help us learn about ourselves and to grow, as we maintain a state of awe, wonder and gratitude in our everyday life.
