Life and Choices

© Nilda Heyek - Life choices - 10 rules

Sometimes we find ourselves in a place that we don’t recognize. We think how did I get here…? Wondering if we might have made a wrong turn somewhere, perhaps looking back to where and who we have been, in mind and heart.

Thinking “that place was better than here, and perhaps I was better then than I am now.”

How do we know?

We don’t. —  We go on living life, day after day, and we have a new opportunity, every single day, to make today count – to make it better, to BE better… now.

Every person that has come my way, every single experience they have brought along, is now a piece of the intricate and unique human woman that I am.

Everyone is our teacher, if we dare to look closely, we can see a piece of our own self in everyone we encounter in life.

So where are we?

We can choose to wander, or we can choose to be present, to trust, and to know that everything we have experienced has somehow enriched our life, with gifts of Joy, Grief, Love, and Growth.

Trusting that what is yet to come, will also bring such gifts.

Wondering about the now can perhaps help us remember where we want to be and head in that direction. Always appreciating where we have been, and where we are because it is the now what we only truly have.

In Gratitude

I find that the gratitude I feel in my here and now, allows me to be present, and to better appreciate the little (and the big) things that come. – This feeling of appreciation towards my every day, fills my heart with joy, wonder, and purpose.

All is well – Yes! And the cool thing is, we have a choice to make it so.

  1. I agree it’s often our decision to be happy or not (appreciate what we have or complain about what we don’t have). Great post!

  2. Very nice. I like it. Good food for thought 🙂 I enjoy reading things that make you reflect, awaken, think about daily life experiences & appreciate the moment(s) past and present.
